Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) was established in 1982. DILA offers a variety of services, including employment support, residential support, information and referral and communication resources, for Eastern Shore residents with hearing loss. Above all DILA strives to promote active, independent living among the people we serve. In addition to our headquarters in Salisbury, Maryland, we operate a satellite office in Easton, Maryland. Our Mission To promote access to the services and resources for the Eastern Shore residents who are deaf or hard of hearing and provide opportunities for full participation in all aspects of community life. Our Philosophy Individuals of all ages who are deaf or hard of hearing have unique skills and talents that if discovered, can be utilized in making them productive and contributing citizens of the State of Maryland. Such skills and talents are only discovered and maximized if there are people who can communicate using American Sign Language (ASL), and who understand the communication barriers associated with hearing loss.
